Prof. dr. Jacqueline Cramer is director of the Utrecht Sustainability Institute and professor in sustainable innovation at Utrecht University. Before she was Minister of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment for the Labour Party (February 2007 – February 2010).
Prof. dr. Jacqueline Cramer is actively involved in sustainability issues since the mid 1970s. She started her career as an associate professor at the University of Amsterdam (1976- 1989), then she worked as senior researcher at the Centre ‘Strategy, Technology and Policy’ of TNO (1989-1999) and since 1999 she is director of the consultancy firm ‘Sustainable Entrepreneurship; strategy and innovation consulting’. She worked with more than 150 companies on the integration of sustainability in the business strategy. Moreover she worked as part-time professor in the field of business and environment since 1990.
Throughout her career she was active in (inter) national advisory boards of the government, industry and non-profit organisations (e.g. crown member of the Dutch Social-Economic Council, member of the Advisory Board of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF)/Netherlands and member of the non-executive board of various companies). Presently, she is engaged in various bottom-up initiatives to enhance the implementation of sustainability.
